Digital Competition Bootcamp

General

Digital competitions are conducted monthly between October though April (except for January), normally on the first Wednesday of each month. Each competition consists of five categories divided into two classes, each with their own awards. All paid-up club members may submit up to two (2) images per month, one each in any two of the categories.   Members select their class (competition level) at the start of each year.

Shortly after the submission closing date, the images are sent to a Judge for scoring and the selection of awards. The Judge will return their scores and award selections.  A judge may provide some critique remarks for selected images if he or she will not be attending the competition night meeting in person.

There are two parallel competitions for members of Class A and B where images for each category are judged.  A singular Image of the Month is selected from all the submissions for the month.  

Upon receipt of the Judge's results, a digital presentation is prepared and shown to the members on the competition meeting night. The presentation may include sample images provided by the judge, at their pleasure.

Competition images are shown by category and class.  Each image is preceded by a title image containing the image title, class, score, award (if appropriate) and the maker’s name.   (Note: the maker’s name will be excluded when the score is below 20.) Within each category, the award-winning images are shown last in ascending order. The category containing the Digital-Image-Of-The-Month will be shown last. If the judge is present they will provide comments on images in selected categories. 

Award winners are automatically eligible for the year end Image of the Year Competition.  This is similar to the monthly competitions except only this year's award winning images participate.

If you have any questions regarding rules, procedures, problems uploading and submissions you should email the Digital Committee at . This mailbox is monitored several times a day in the period leading up to and thru the submission date. 

Do not email individual committee members on urgent issues as they might be busy without access to their email.  We would hate for you to miss a competition.  The person monitoring the email address will be able to resolve your problem.
