First George W. Glennie Memorial Nature Salon:
May 7, 1981
Introduction:
This salon is a tribute to the memory of George Glennie, founder and first chairman of our Nature Group. George initiated the formation of this group with meetings in his home in Andover in the Spring of 1976. Originally the group consisted of only about twelve members but after a few months the growing interest made it evident that this group's activities should be incorporated into the regular programs of our club.
In addition to his nature interests, George was always ready, willing and able to assist in any club activity. For all of his tireless work, devotion and long-time faithful membership since the early 1960's, George was bestowed with the honor of Life Membership in the Club. We sorely miss George's presence at our meetings, along with his quiet, gentle wife, Hazel, who now visits us too infrequently.
For this salon we have a distinguished panel of judges, all of whom are recognized for their work in the field of nature.
Each club may submit 10 slides, with a maximum of two slides per member who must enter their slides thru only one club. A Paul Revere Bowl will be awarded to the Best of Show. Ribbons will be awarded for the Best of each of the following categories: Landscape, Bird, Insect, Plant Life, and Animal. Other high scoring slides will also receive ribbons. Club awards will be ribbons for First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention.
The entry fee is $3.00, and slides may be mailed to Lawrence Camera Club c/o John O. Toivola.
