George W. Glennie Memorial Nature Salon:
April 5, 1995

Report:

The results are in from the 1995 nature salon. The competition was very stiff this year. We had 15 clubs compete this year. Although we had fewer clubs compete this year, the quality was fantastic. The judges even tried to trade their fees for a few slides, but I held fast and returned them to the makers. The scores were very close, with 50% of the top scores being within five points of each other. The club standings were also very close.

I would like to thank all the entrees for the nice job in preparing the entry forms. This preparation made my job much easier. Thanks again for a nice job done. The results are listed below.

The Best of Show slide was a fantastic slide of a baby giraffe next to his mother. The angle and lighting were just right. Dave did a nice job on this shot. Well done.

The Yankee Photographic Society was very kind in donating a Medal for the Best of Show I would like to thank them very much for this award. The Lawrence Camera Club donated a plaque for Chairman's Choice Award. There were also 19 honor award ribbons given to scores of 25 points and higher and ribbons to the top three club scores.

As I said, the slides were great. There were many animals and birds and very few general and insects this year. Lawrence Camera Club would like to thank all the entrants for entering our competition. The judges were very consistent in their scoring. We were very fortunate to get such high quality judges. We will be sending out next year's entries next February and hope to see your entries again. If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to write.

A special thanks to all the help I got this year in making this competition go aff as well as it did. The scorers did a great job, even with my error on labeling a group of slides. A thank you to Dick for collecting the great slides that Lawrence entered and to our John Lowe an extra thanks for judging.

Sincerely,
John Yurka
Lawrence CC Glennie Chairman
