"I am honored to be part of this community of exemplary photographers
and amongst like-minded people who are just as addicted to
photography, light and capturing moments in life as I am. I like
seeing and talking about photos and enjoy seeing members and special
guests showing and discussing their work and how they do it in a
show/talk or gallery exhibit. I learn a lot from competitions and
comments from judges. I like hands-on workshops and field trips where
we all interact and learn together in a fun, relaxed environment. I
learned about the club from my friend, the club's treasurer, who
encouraged me to pay a few visits during spring 2006, and then I got
hooked."

I currently use two digital Canon EOS 20D bodies and occasionally
use a Canon EOS 1D Mark II body. I like to travel light, though,
because of the nature of my work. I use a Minolta Maxxum 7xi
film body with autofocus lenses when I travel. I also use
a Panasonic Lumix as a pocket digital camera.

I am a full-time photojournalist, so I try to be ready to photograph a
wide range of topics in a wide variety of usually unpredictable and
unexpected lighting situations/conditions and settings, all in a
compressed amount of time and with lots of improvisation. I like
shooting in both color and black and white and am using a "digital
darkroom."
I shoot anything I need and want to shoot outdoors whenever I can. I
like photographing landscapes and scenes, including urban landscapes,
in a variety of ways and in all seasons, from my travels locally and
elsewhere with and without wildlife and/or people. Photographing
people with character, expressing themselves in candid moments in
their daily life at work, at home, at play, in environmental
portraits, on the street and in sports events are all important to me.
I like shooting special, expressive and meaningful events/moments like
weddings, cultural, religious or community events and anything with
pageantry or rituals, such as a first communion, from the inside out,
in a documentary style. I also love photographing in close detail the
way things are made or being restored, the old-fashioned way, mostly
by hand, particularly artisanal things such as cheese or machinery
like farm equipment. I am always on the lookout for quirky, unusual
people and situations, off-the-beaten path places and just about
anything that could make a neat photo with a story behind it. And I
like to collaborate with people on and organize photo projects. |
