About 25 years ago, my husband & I attended a Millie Mattaso slide
show in Andover. I just happened to sit by a very nice gentleman and
we started conversing before the show started. He invited me to stop
by the Lawrence Camera Club, which at that time, met in the basement
of an Andover bank. And, the rest is history. Have been a member
of the now-named ‘Merrimack Valley CC since 1982. I have always been
interested in Photography - even my high school yearbook underscored
that ‘Ruth wants to be a photographer’. By the way, that very nice
gentleman was Dick Morton. Thank you, Dick, for introducing me to
such a great photo club - and for being such a good friend! I have
met some very wonderful people at MVCC, many of whom have become
very good friends.
MVCC has so much to offer to everyone! No wonder our Club has grown
by leaps and bounds.

I started as a kid with an old Brownie box camera - progressed as
time went on with various and sundry camers until sometime in the
late 70’s I purchased my first SLR - a Canon F-1. From there on its
been one Canon after another. I love the Canon film SLRs and its
been difficult for me to completely switch to Digital. Slides were
my passion. However, now I have a small Canon Power Shot G-3; a new
Canon Power Shot S3 IS; and a Canon D-30 SLR. The D-30, although
short on megapixels, is a fine camera and will do me for a while.

Love photographing New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and the West in
general! Although usually difficult, I do enjoy searching out and
photographing Nature and Macro subjects. Have done a lot of Still
Life - I thank Mary Boucher for all her hints. Some years back,
Mary & I took a Gerlach workshop in the Upper Pennisula of
Michigan ... that was fun! Actually, I like photographing just about
everything -- even rust on old vehicles.
